Please join us for our Kindergarten Roundup Signing Day on April 13!
Bring your child in to officially sign as a Junior Bulldog. Each child will go home with Bulldog swag including a t-shirt, a squishy bulldog, and a book. To qualify for DK or kindergarten, a child must be 5-years-old on or before September 1, 2023, or by December 1, 2023, if a parent chooses to sign the waiver.
Parents should bring their child's birth certificate, proof of residency (utility bill, lease agreement, etc.), and proof of immunizations. An informal assessment of readiness skills and a health department hearing and vision exam will be administered at the kindergarten roundup.

Parent Teacher Conferences are tomorrow from 12:30-4pm and 5-8pm. A grab and go snack will be available for all who attend. Parent-teacher conferences are a great chance to touch base with your child's teacher, learn how they are doing in school, and how you can support them in meeting their goals. Thank you to all the parents/guardians who attended fall conferences. Research has shown time and time again that parent involvement has a positive effect on student outcomes.
Don't forget that students will have half days of school on Thursday and Friday, March 23 and 24, 2023. Students will be dismissed at 12:00 pm both days. Thursday will be a pm schedule so there will be no a.m. Tech Center. Friday will be the a.m. schedule so there will be Tech Center. Spring break starts Friday at 12:00. There is no school Monday March 27-Friday March 31, 2023. School will resume Monday, April 3, 2023.

We will now introduce the 2023 Winter Homecoming Queen Candidates. These students were chosen by their senior class as representatives and were voted on by the entire high school student body to determine this year’s king and queen.
Brea Baumgartner: Brea describes herself as optimistic, funny, and encouraging. In her free time, she enjoys reading and watching Netflix. Brea is a member of the National Honor Society and the Leadership Book Club. She has participated in volleyball, track, powerlifting and basketball. She has been recognized as a TCC Tri-County Scholar Athlete the last three years and received All State Scholar Athlete recognition this fall during volleyball. Her favorite cartoon is South Park. Brea is the daughter of Josh and Jill Baumgartner.
Lily Betz: Lily describes herself as kind, outgoing, and smart. Her favorite hobbies are Circle K runs, hanging out with friends and playing sports. As a student, Lily participates in both volleyball and softball. This fall she received her CNA license and one of her favorite achievements was winning districts in softball her sophomore year. Her favorite cartoon is Dora the Explorer. Lily is the daughter of Brian and Kristy Betz.
Scarlett Pummell: Scarlett describes herself as open minded, honest, and understanding. She enjoys reading, playing video games and driving to Circle K every night with her best friends. Scarlett is a member of the National Honor Society, the yearbook staff, the Leadership Book Club, and has reorganized the middle school library as an independent study this year. Scarlett was the powerlifting state champion her sophomore year and has received various academic awards throughout high school. Her favorite cartoons are SpongeBob and South Park. Scarlett is the daughter of Jennifer Pummell and Craig Pummell and Heather Walker.
Brynn Tipton: Brynn describes herself as organized, motivated and kind. Her favorite hobbies are kayaking, reading, running, babysitting, and traveling. As a student, Brynn is a member of the National Honor Society and also co-ops at the elementary school and CandyLand Daycare. She is proud of being on the honor roll all four years of high school, being able to co-op at both the school and daycare and being accepted and committed to Bowling Green University in the fall. Brynn’s favorite cartoon is SpongeBob. Brynn is the daughter of Jill Tipton.

Bowen Baumgartner: Bowen describes himself as confident, proactive, and versatile. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, watching Netflix, running and eating. At school, he is a member of the National Honor Society, the volunteer club, the yearbook staff, the dual enrollment program, and participates in cross country, golf, and track. Bowen has earned the TCC scholar athlete award and has lettered as a varsity athlete for cross country, golf, and track. His favorite cartoon is Rick and Morty. Bowen is the son of Josh and Jill Baumgartner.
Garrett Caudill: Garrett describes himself as outgoing, animated, and humorous. He enjoys running, reading, writing, and model/diorama-making in his spare time. As a student at Morenci, he is involved in cross-country, track, golf and yearbook. This year, Gary was one of two students from his Tech Center class to qualify for the DECA state competition. His favorite cartoon is Phineas and Ferb. Gary is the son of Kinney Caudill and the nephew of Alice Cortner.
Eli Fowler: Eli describes himself as nice, funny, and caring. In his spare time, he enjoys playing video games and working out. As a high school student, Eli participates in powerlifting and is proud of all of the weight he’s lost in the last year. His favorite cartoon is Dragonball 6. Eli is the son of Stephanie Anders and Jacob Fowler.

This year, Morenci is proud to host two foreign exchange students, Roland Kikvadze from Georgia and Damjan Zimbakov from Macedonia.
Our first foreign exchange student of the night is Roland Kikvadze. Roland’s favorite hobbies include photography and skydiving. As a student at Morenci, he is a member of the varsity boys basketball team. His favorite cartoon is Family Guy. Roland’s host parents are Kristen and Jeremy Watkins
Our second foreign exchange student is Damjan Zimbakov. Damjan describes himself as ambitious, dedicated, and sarcastic. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball, programming, and playing the guitar. At Morenci, he is a member of the varsity basketball team and plans to participate in track and field this spring. Damjan was the recipient of the YES Exchange Program Scholarship. His favorite cartoon is Rick and Morty. Damjan’s host parents are Kristen and Jeremy Watkins.


The junior class representatives are Esmeralda Taboada-Cortes and Donovan Powell.
Esme describes herself as creative, sarcastic and funny. She enjoys hanging out with her friends because something chaotic is always happening and having mini vlogs. She is involved in Morenci’s Gecko club. Her favorite cartoon is Agnes, from Despicable Me because she’s just like her, short and obsessed with goats. Esme is the daughter of Josefina and Jose Luis.
Donovan describes himself as kind, resilient, and smart. Donovan enjoys playing video games, bowling, exercising and playing basketball. At Morenci, he is involved with the bowling team. His favorite cartoon is SpongeBob. Donovan is the son of Tony and Terri Powell.
