The goal of the program is to assist students who are at risk of dropping out. The program will offer a quarter curriculum allowing students the opportunity to recover credits at a higher rate than the regular school setting. In the alternative setting students will receive eight credits per year rather than the 6.5 that are offered in the traditional setting. Students who have fallen behind in credits will have the opportunity to catch up and earn a diploma. The curriculum will match that of Morenci High School and an alternative education student will be required to meet the credit requirements of all Morenci High School Students. The goal of student success is not merely completing the required course of instructional study, but to put the students at the center of learning. Ultimately, to have students assume ownership of their educational choices as they prepare for college or a career.
