Our first graders had a blast playing Rock, Paper, Scissors during math! ✋✂️🪨 We tallied up the results to see which wins the most – rock, paper, scissors, or a tie! So much fun while learning! #morencibulldogs 🐾📊

Don’t let your child stay home unless they are truly sick. Consider that sometimes a stomach ache or headache is a sign of anxiety. Talk to teachers, school counselors, and other parents for advice on how to make your child feel comfortable and excited about learning.

We had a beautiful day for a walking field trip to Stair District Library! 📚 This special trip helps prepare our students for their upcoming Lansing adventure, teaching them important lessons like walking safely and respectfully around the Capitol grounds, learning the role of a docent, how to respond appropriately, and how to respect museum exhibits and artifacts. We even had a chance to dive into some Constitution Day lessons! Be sure to check out the goodies your child brought home from the library to support today's activities. For now, enjoy these pictures from our day! 📸

Our 5th graders had an unforgettable time at camp this week! From climbing the rock wall 🧗‍♂️ to tie-dyeing shirts 🎨 and even getting hands-on with tarantulas and cockroaches 🕷️🐜, the adventure was non-stop. We had beautiful weather to enjoy the waterslide 💦, and we wrapped up the day with hilarious skits and dance-offs! 🎶 We’re so thankful for our students to have this opportunity to try new experiences and have fun with their friends and classmates. #morencibulldogs

One or two missed days a week might not seem like a lot, but lost time adds up over a student’s educational career. Absences can also affect the whole classroom if the teacher has to slow down learning to help students catch up. To learn more, visit lisd.us/attendance

Last week, we hosted an assembly where students were introduced to the Morenci Elementary School branch of the TLC Credit Union! Through this program, students can set personal savings goals and make regular deposits into their own savings accounts. The Student-Run In-School Credit Union empowers young people to build personal finance and employability skills. Student workers gain valuable experience in general credit union operations and learn work ethics as branch managers, tellers, bookkeepers, and auditors. Student savers can open a no-fee savings account with an initial deposit of just $0.25. They can set savings goals for the year and even receive prizes for developing strong saving habits, showing how rewarding saving can be! Keep an eye on your child’s folder today or tomorrow for important paperwork. We encourage families to sign up by September 26th to be ready when our school branch opens in November (though you can join later as well).
