๐ Staff Spotlight: Raquel Merillat - February Staff of the Month ๐
We're thrilled to recognize and celebrate Raquel Merillat as our February Staff of the Month! ๐ Raquel embodies the true spirit of leadership, setting a shining example for all of us. Her infectious positivity lights up the room, and she consistently extends a helping hand to colleagues and students alike. ๐ Raquel's genuine care and concern for our students are evident every day in the cafeteria, where she goes above and beyond to ensure they receive nutritious meals.
One of Raquel's outstanding contributions was her pivotal role in implementing the grab-and-go breakfast initiative at the elementary school. This innovation not only streamlined morning routines but also resulted in increased instructional time for our students. ๐ Both staff and administration have observed the positive impact this change has had on our school community.
Raquel, your dedication and hard work have made a lasting impact on our school. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to our student's well-being and the success of our educational community. ๐ We appreciate all that you do! #morencibulldogs
๐ข Important Update: School Calendar Adjustment ๐๏ธ
Due to weather-related closures, we're turning Friday, February 16th into a regular school day. Students will not have school on Monday, February 19th. Thanks for your understanding and flexibility! ๐จ๏ธ๐ #morencibulldogs
๐๐ A huge congratulations to Renae Schaffner for being named Assistant Coach of the Year by the Michigan HS Softball Coaches Association! ๐๐
Renae has been an integral part of our coaching staff for 33 years. Her remarkable journey includes leading Morenci to consecutive softball state championships in 1985 and 1986 as an All-State pitcher. Renae's athletic prowess continued at Hillsdale College, where she played both basketball and softball, earning All-American status and later being inducted into the Hillsdale College Athletic Hall of Fame.
From her humble beginnings as a volunteer coach over three decades ago to becoming an invaluable leader on our staff, Renae's dedication and passion for coaching are truly unmatched. Her attention to detail and ability to motivate our athletes have played a pivotal role in our program's success.
As we navigate through the winter season, we want to update you on the current status of our school calendar in light of the recent weather-related closures. So far, we have experienced 7 weather-related school closures this academic year.
As per the state regulations, schools are typically allocated 6 weather days that can be missed without the need for makeup days. However, this year, we have exceeded our allocation, having utilized 7 weather days. Considering the unpredictability of winter weather and the possibility of additional closures, we are making a proactive adjustment to our school calendar. Originally scheduled as a mid-winter break, Friday, February 16th will now be a regular school day.
We understand the impact this change may have on your plans, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. Our priority is to provide a consistent and effective learning experience for our students while meeting state requirements.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we make these adjustments to maintain the integrity of our academic calendar. Should there be any further changes or updates, we will promptly communicate them with you.
