This class is an introduction to jazz music and the stylistic differences that set it apart as a true American musical style. In this class students will learn several different jazz styles including swing, 12 bar blues and jazz/rock. In addition to this students will learn about improvisation and the skills required to play improv successfully. Students study traditional chords, 7th chords, 9th chords and 11th chords as well as how to identify them and use them to create improvisation while they are playing.
